Most of the "additives" talked about here (with the exception of castile soap, and coffee) can There are two types of additives, one is with the purpose of trying to get your body to retain some of the benefits of the "additive" and the other is with the purpose of cleansing or flushing out the colon. The two that are used most for flushing out that stubbornly packed colon are castile soap and olive oil, in some cases coffee also seems to help release stubborn impactions. The additives are done with a disposable bag similar to an IV bag (or it can look more like a bucket) that will be hung next to the colonic machine and at the appropriate time the hose is just switched from the water line, to the additive bag. The additive is put directly into the colonic hose connection that is already in place with no effort on your part. This equipment has to be hooked up previous to the beginning of the colonic, so if you want an additive it is best to tell us when booking the appointment, or minimally, when you arrive. Your colonic will be done in the same manner as it usually is except for the fact that at the appropriate time, the additive of your choice will be used instead of water. You then just lay a few minutes, with the additive still inside of you, giving it a chance to be absorbed by the colon. The additive will then be released to go through the tube and down the drain in the usual manner. When it is something that benefits the body we typically do not rinse the remnants of the additive out of the colon, since we want as much of it as possible to remain on the colon walls and continue to be absorbed by the colon. In some cases, especially when soap or oil is being used to relieve severe constipation or impaction the additive may be done at the beginning of the colonic. Castile Soap, Olive Oil, and Coffee gets rinsed out of the colon while all others are left coating the colon. Some substances commonly used for colonic additives are:
